The Accommodation
The upper
floor was where the original owner entertained his male friends with billiards or banqueting. This
was, and has now been restored to, a delightful living area with an ornate coved ceiling, an exact
replica of the original.
The original fireplace now contains a wood burning stove. The tiles on the
hearth were found below the porch during excavations.
The floor in the porch, also discovered
during the works, is slate in the shape of an oval billiard table.
The slate cladding on the outside of
the upper part of the building, very unusual in the Isle of Man, was mostly still in situ. |
